contents

The purpose of this study is to rebuild the Second Boat of King Khufu (about B.C.2550), Ancient Egypt, one of the oldest large wooden vessels, now dismantled and buried in the shielded boat pit at the foot of the Khufu Pyramid. This study is connected with the excavation and the preservation projects preparing by the Waseda University Egyptian Culture Center (Director ; S.Yoshimura, Prof. of the School of Human Science, Waseda Univ.). We have gathered the data of all the timbers of the First Boat of King Khufu, made the idea of revising the present rebuilding of the boat done by the Antiquities Dept. of Egypt by 1982, and conjectured the shape of the Second Boat with the relieves collected from the tombs in the same period near the Khufu Pyramid. And now we are studying on the structure, the building procedure and the planning of the wooden boat in the Ancient Egypt for our future rebuilding of the Second Baot.
