A chiral molecule is defined as a molecule lacking a plane of symmetry. Bioactive ones among others have been valuably used as medicines, or biological tools in bioscience. Chiral molecules have been also utilized as materials for ferroelectric liquid crystals, chiral ligands of catalysts, biodegradable polymers, and the like. Thus, various developments of chiral molecules are expected in future for their great potential. |
