A Map Data Distribution System for Pedestrians
Go to Japanese
naiyo

Recently, positional information systems using a GPS (Global Positioning System) have been deceloped built and utilized, such as in car navigation systems. As the advance of LSI technology can miniaturise a GPS receiver, we are able to incorporate it into PDA systems or mobile computer. Pedestrians having a PDA systems or mobile computer can obtain the location from the GPS receiver. We propose a map data distribution system for pedestrians having a PDA systems. This system is composed of map servers, base stations having antennas and multiple PDA systems. A pedestrian having a PDA systems obtains his or her positional information from a GPS and sends it to a map server via a base station. The map server searches the map data around the PDA systems position. Particularly, we focus on (1)map data search crossing or inclouding a given query rectangle (2)deformation of map, (3)route seach for pedestrians.
